Llegamos a los 70, una década que, si tuviera que quedarme con una, seguramente sea mi favorita en la historia de la música. Buena parte de culpa la tiene la explosión de buenísima música soul y funk que tuvo lugar en esos primeros años de la década: gente como Marvin Gaye, Al Green, Curtis Mayfield, Isaac Hayes, Ann Peebles, Aretha Franklin, Billy Preston, Roberta Flack, James Brown, Candi Staton y la excelente racha de discos que sacó Stevie Wonder. Eso solo en cuanto a solistas, porque además estaban Funkadelic / Parliament, The Temptations, Four Tops, The Meters, Gladys Knight & The Pips, Sly & The Family Stone… Pero hay más, mucho más, con el cambio década asistiremos a los grandes discos de los Beatles en solitario a la vez que a la disolución del grupo, al nacimiento del hard rock y el heavy, al salto a la fama de mitos como Elton John o David Bowie… En fin, creo que sí, que definitivamente los 70 son mi década favorita. Pero vayamos por partes: aquí están mis discos preferidos de 1970, a día de hoy y lógicamente sin haber escuchado todo lo que se publicó ese año (así que siempre puede haber cambios). Como siempre, dejo enlaces a mis reseñas según las vaya escribiendo y comentaré brevemente los discos más destacados aquí mismo.

Podría considerarse el debut de Elton John, aunque ya había publicado el LP Skyline Pigeon un año antes. Podría considerarse también casi un grandes éxitos, con tema como «Your song», «Take me to the pilot», «Border song», y otros menos conocidos pero de una delicadeza extraordinaria como «The greatest discovery» o «Sixty years on». El definitivo y estelar arranque de una de las mejores parejas compositivas de todos los tiempos: Elton John y Bernie Taupin.

Sin querer menospreciar a sus compañeros en esta aventura, aquí tenemos a Eric Clapton escondiéndose detrás de un grupo y, al mismo tiempo, abriéndose en canal para todos nosotros. Hay mucho Blues, mucho rock de sabor clásico, grandes versiones, pero sobre todo hay un grito desesperado de amor no correspondido (de momento). Echando un vistazo a los títulos de las canciones se palpa esa desesperación. También escuchando «Layla», esa definitiva canción de amor rock.
