Sigue habiendo mucho jazz vocal y soul, con Sinatra resistiéndose a desaparecer pese a la llegada de la Beatlemanía. Una lista que, como todas, estará siempre en proceso de actualización. El primer paso hacia la leyenda. Para algunos, estos son los Beatles de verdad. Los del amor por el rock and roll y el R&B, los de la resaca de Hamburgo y The Cavern. Hay muchas versiones, como solía pasar en aquellos años, pero el talento de Lennon y McCartney como compositores ya empieza a destacar con temas como «Please please me», «Do you want to know a secret», «P.S. I love you» o «I saw her standing there».

Pocos meses después de su debut, los Beatles repiten fórmula para su segundo álbum británico. Son catorce canciones, mitad versiones y mitad originales. Entre las primeras destacan «Please Mr. Postman», «Roll over Beethoven», «You really got a hold on me» y ese cierre espectacular con «Money (that’s what I want)». Entre las originales hay clásicos como «It won’t be long» o «All my loving», aunque podría haber sido mejor de no ser por la costumbre de no incluir los singles más exitosos, como «She loves you» o «I want to hold your hand».
